Safeguarding Australia is a project of Engineers Australia.

Its key elements are its events and its free email newsletter. Both highlights developments in the protection of critical infrastructure and the built environment.

They are relevant to people in emergency services, infrastructure organisations and government agencies.

The approach of the Safeguarding Australia projects is based around:

  • all hazards
  • risk management
  • a true partnership of the 3 tiers of government, industry, industry associations, the professions and the community
  • whole of nation approach, rather than simply a whole of government approach
  • security is a function of regulatory, financial, operational and policy issues
  • security is the responsibility of everyone

The service is run by Athol Yates, author of the June 2003 report Securing Critical Infrastructure and the Built Environment .

The service is provided by Engineers Australia .
