Athol Yates, BEng, Grad Dip Soviet Studies, M Public Policy, is the editor of Safeguarding Australia News. He ran the highly successful Engineering-Security Research Forum on 15 April 2003 and wrote the report for Engineers Australia called Engineering a Safer Australia: Securing Critical Infrastructure and the Built Environment. He has an extensive background in infrastructure having project managed the 2003 NSW Infrastructure Report Card and the 2001 Australian Infrastructure Report Card.
